Tabletop Simulator & Playstyles

It’s always a bit nerve racking showing a thing you’ve created but here we are! If you have Tabletop Simulator you can fire up Jarren’s Outpost and play it to your heart’s content. We only ever play tested it with 4 players max and in theory 5 is doable, so good luck if you go down that route! Set up should be fairly straightforward, thanks to the wonderful Unforeseen-Consequences from our Sanspants+ Discord, you can click the Set Up Game button and it’ll sort it all out for you. All you need to do is read the rulebook and you’re all set!

Each character plays different and while we recommend playing to their strengths, with the right equipment you can be anything! That said here’s our recommended play styles for each character.

Greg Piss

Nothing lasts forever, and that includes the items and NPCs in your backpack. Greg is a lover not a fighter and relies on getting around the board getting items for people, discarding whatever he’s carrying for the next best thing and acting as a sneaky courier. Go for fetch and delivery quests, particularly any involving people and use the sewers to your advantage. Avoid fighting, it’s not for you.

Periwinkle O’Rourke

Quick around the board and fists the size of particularly large hams. People aren’t his strong suit but Periwinkle can hold a lot of items and handle his own in a fight. Particular when juggling several large weapons. Gear up and become an unstoppable machine or specialise in moving items around the board, getting people from A to B is best left for someone else.

Leo Shadow & Meatpie

Sneaky and agile, the perfect delivery boy wrapped up in a halfling and his bird. Try to avoid taking a hit when you can, Leo is only little! However, with the right weapons, they won’t see you coming. Particularly deadly when you combine hit and run tactics with a backstab. Pick a lane and stick with it, Leo’s great at delivering items but you’re not going to be able to go toe-to-toe with most NPCs so plan ahead when attacking.

Clara Norman

A charming warrior priest that knows the right thing to say to the right people. A jack of all trades that is slow and methodical and not at all afraid to body a punch. Comfortable marching down the streets, wielding a mace or two with her congregation at her back. Clara isn’t as speedy as the others and won’t win in a footrace, but anything involving people she’s neck and neck with Greg Piss and can easily handle her own in a fist fight.

Nok Nok

The deadliest grandma-ma we know. She has little time for all that quest nonsense. That’s the problem with the youth of today, always getting someone else to do things for them. All you need is a club, a direction and to know where the toughest person in the city is (that isn’t her). Any quests Nok Nok does should feel like a mistake or an opportunistic accident.

Enjoy the digital version of the game, have fun with your friends and if you’d all be so kind to fill out the survey when you’re done - it goes a long way in helping us out!
